Challenge
Groups that own several consumer brands usually run a separate online store for each one. Reporting, product data and everyday tasks are repeated per store, by a small team.
When that team wanted to use an AI assistant for store questions and routine work, the standard connection handled one store at a time. It had to be reconnected for each brand, and it offered little control over what the assistant could reach.
Approach
We already looked after the stores, so we knew what the team needed the assistant to do. We built the connection around those tasks.
- Listed the questions and tasks the team wanted help with, and the access each one required.
- Built a custom connector that gives one assistant access to every store at once.
- Set permissions in the connector, controlled by the company and not by the tool.
- Tested brand by brand with the people who would use it, then retired the old connection.
- Published the product catalogs where AI shopping assistants can read them.
Result
The team now works across all three brands from a single assistant, without reconnecting for each store.
- One sign-in covers every storefront.
- The company decides exactly what the assistant may see and change.
- Products can appear when shoppers ask an AI assistant about them.
Our advice
Before connecting any AI tool to a store, write down what you want it to do. The list of tasks decides the access, and the access is the part worth getting right.
