Challenge
A veterinary products company had a website that described its product well enough and did little else. The team wanted a homepage that explained the product's uses at a glance, and a place to publish articles for the professionals who use it.
Every page also had to be checked by a product manager before it went public.
Approach
We rebuilt the homepage from the approved design and added article layouts, all on a staging copy the client could review.
- Build the new homepage from the designer's approved layout.
- Add sections that explain each use of the product with its own icon and summary.
- Create article page layouts and homepage links that update as articles are published.
- Share each stage on a private staging site for review.
- Keep the site in version control, with every change recorded.
Result
The company has a homepage that explains its product quickly and a publishing section it can add to without a developer.
- Reviewers approved real pages before launch.
- New articles appear on the homepage automatically.
- A site the marketing team can extend.
Our advice
If you plan to publish regularly, have the article layout designed and built with the same care as the homepage. It is where most visitors will arrive.
