Challenge
A self-storage company with many locations relied on its website for customers to find a facility. The hosting was with one provider and the development with another.
When the site was slow or something broke, each pointed at the other, and the company was left in the middle.
Approach
We took on the hosting, the server and the website itself under a single services agreement.
- Move the site and its database to hosting we manage.
- Size the server for the site's real traffic.
- Maintain the operating system and server software.
- Make changes to the website as the company requests them.
- Write into the agreement that the code, media and database are the client's and will be handed over on request.
Result
The company has one party responsible for the site being up, current and changed when needed.
- One number to call.
- Server and site maintained together.
- A clear exit, with everything handed over.
Our advice
Before signing any hosting or maintenance agreement, check what you would receive if you left. The answer should be everything.
