Challenge
An energy industry campaign needed a consumer website built around bold illustration and photography. The creative work came from an agency.
Artwork that looked striking on a desktop monitor was cropped badly or loaded slowly on a phone, and most of the audience would arrive on a phone from social media.
Approach
We built the site so that each screen size received artwork made for it.
- Take the agency's creative and prepare separate versions for phone, tablet and desktop.
- Serve each visitor only the version their screen needs.
- Build the pages to the agency's layouts, with animation that does not slow the page.
- Set up the images and descriptions used when the site is shared on social media.
- Keep the site updated as the campaign added new material.
Result
The campaign had a site that looked as intended on every device and loaded quickly on a phone.
- Artwork framed correctly at each size.
- Controlled previews when shared on social platforms.
- New campaign material added without a rebuild.
Our advice
For an audience that arrives from social media, design the phone version first. It is the one most people will see.
