Capabilities
Cloud computing
Migration, high availability and multi-region architecture.

Overview
Moving to the cloud is not the goal. The goal is a platform that stays up, grows when demand arrives and does not need a specialist on call to keep it running. We design and build cloud environments, carry out the cloud migration, and hand over something your own team can operate.
We also review and repair environments that were set up in a hurry and have become expensive or fragile.
What we do
- Architecture design. A written design for your application: how it is separated into layers, how it scales and how it recovers from a failure.
- Migration. Applications, databases and files moved from legacy hosting or on-premise servers, with the old and new environments running side by side until cutover.
- High availability. Redundancy across data centers and regions, so the loss of one does not take the service down.
- Load testing and right-sizing. The platform tested against your real usage history, then sized so you pay for what you need.
- Automated builds and deployment. Servers built from code and releases deployed through a pipeline, so the environment can be reproduced and a release is no longer an event.
- Scheduled and serverless jobs. Reports, imports and follow-up tasks that run on their own without a server to maintain.
- Security testing. Independent external testing of your production environment, with the method and findings written up in plain language.
- Handover and training. Documentation and training so your own team can operate the platform, with us available when you want a second opinion.
When to call us
- The site slows down or falls over in your busiest periods.
- Everything runs on one server and nobody wants to touch it.
- Releases are done by hand, late at night.
- The cloud bill keeps growing and nobody can explain why.
- A customer has asked for evidence that your platform is secure.
How we work
01
Review the platform
We study the current environment, the code that runs on it and the usage history, then recommend an architecture in writing.
02
Build and migrate
We build the new environment alongside the old one, move the workloads across and test under load before launch.
03
Launch and hand over
We support the cutover and the period after it, and train your team to operate the platform independently.
What we work with
- Amazon Web Services. EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, DynamoDB and Amplify
- Microsoft Azure. Hosted environments and Azure Pipelines
- Google Cloud. Hosted environments and services on Google Cloud Platform
- Automation. Docker, Chef and AWS OpsWorks
- Databases. MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, and the NoSQL databases DynamoDB, DocumentDB and ElastiCache
- Managed hosting and delivery. WP Engine and Akamai
This is a sample of what we work with, not the full list. If your platform is not here, ask. We have very likely worked with it, or with something close to it.
